Believe the hype, baby. Women’s Health Fit Coach is an online trainer, nutritionist, and weight loss expert rolled into one. Every day, Fit Coach will prescribe a meal plan and fitness routine for you and only you. The coolest thing: You can swap out any exercise you don’t like, add or delete foods, and otherwise tweak the plan so it fits your personality and lifestyle to a T.

And here’s the real bonus: We designed the Fit Coach system to pay attention. As long as you report in every day, the software knows how many reps you did last night and the number of calories you scarfed at Sunday brunch. And like any smart, informed coach, it adjusts accordingly.

The three rules of Fit Coach:
1. Be honest with Fit Coach.  2. Be honest with Fit Coach. 3. Be honest with Fit Coach.

Fit Coach changes with you
Are you hoping to just shrink that muffin top? Or do you want a body so buff people on the street start begging you for workout advice? Maybe you finally decided to train for your first 5-K. No matter what your goal, there’s a workout here designed to get you in the best shape of your life. There’s also a selection of shockingly yummy meal plans to help you eat smart and cut calories without depriving yourself.

If, like us, you love to try everything before committing to one thing, remember that you can change your workout plan and a meal plan anytime. And we promise to continue adding additional programs to Fit Coach so that you’ll never run out of new things to try. For more information on the Fit Coach:

The excuse Triathlon? Never. I can’t even swim a lap without gasping for air.
Spare us, sister Regular breathing exercises can improve your lung capacity in just one week. To raise your respiratory roof, pick up a device called the PowerLung ($109, powerlung.com), which is rigged with adjustable controls to provide resistance as you inhale and exhale. Count to three while breathing in and again while breathing out. Do three sets of 10 breaths twice a day, resting a minute between sets.

How do I find my fat-burning zone? And why should I try to use it?
Your fat-burning zone is the ideal level for building your aerobic endurance and, yes, burning fat. Find it by subtracting your age from 220 and then multiplying that number by 70 percent. You can wear a heart rate monitor to watch your numbers or focus on exercising at a chitchat pace—that’s one that allows you to carry on a conversation without getting totally winded. It takes at least 20 minutes to get into the zone, and the longer you go from there, the more fat you’ll end up burning.
